The North Pownal United Methodist Church, 851 Lawrence Road, Pownal, Maine will be holding a public baked bean and spaghetti suppers the first Saturday of every month through November. VBS July 21-25 Hollis Center Baptist Church is excited to present Son Treasure Island! Come join us July 21-25 9 am -11:30 am For ages 4 – going into 6th grade. Five days of non stop excitement with Bible adventures, games, songs, & snacks. We will not only learn about how much God loves us but how that love can help give us courage to share God’s truth with everyone. July 28th to August 1st Vacation Bible School at TnT Bible Ministries begins Monday, July 28 thru Friday, August 1 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm for kids ages 4 – 11!  (Registration is from 5:45 pm to 6:00 pm each night) Join us at SonTreasure Island where there’s treasure more precious than gold, more lasting than diamonds; it’s the greatest treasure of all – God’s love!  Each day kids will learn how Jesus’ life illustrates God’s love as described in 1 Corinthians 13.  For registration information, call 725-4680. August 1st The Carthage Historical Society will hold a Bake Sale and Lawn Sale on August 1st from 1:00 to 6:00 pm at the Carthage Historical Society Museum.  Anyone wishing to donate items or food to the sale can reach Nancy at 562-7762 or Fay at 562-7337.  We will also be raffling off a 3 x 5 braided rug made by Fay Hutchinson, tickets may be purchased by calling Nancy or Fay.  The rug will be on display at Bradbury’s Market July 26 & 27th and tickets will be available then.  We will also have tickets available on August 1st.

August 4th thru 7th  Children from kindergarten through 6th grade are invited to join in the fun at this year’s Vacation Bible School at Maine Street Baptist Church from 9 am to 12 noon beginning on Monday, August 4 through Thursday, August 7.   This year’s theme is “Agency D3″ where children through music, arts and crafts, Bible Study and recreation will discover and examine the evidence for the Gospel found in the Bible.. There is no charge for VBS but registration is encouraged, though not mandatory.  Children are able to register on August 4 at 8:30 am before the program begins that morning. August 9th MASONIC BEAN SUPPER— Route 136 across from the Durham River Park The supper will be on August 9th from 4:30 – 6:00 PM. The Masonic Lodge is located on Route 136 across from the River Park. August 10th, LIFE Ministry will be hosting a free-to-public concert in Rockland, featuring music by Epic Season and Chelsea Amber. Epic Season is from northern NH, has been performing in New England for over five years. In 2013 they released a debut EP entitled “Till Darkness Falls to Dawn”, produced by Paul Colman of the Paul Colman Trio  Chelsea Amber is a Halifax, Nova Scotia based singer-songwriter  who brings soulful pop sounds to stages across North America. She has won several awards for her music in Canada, reaching top charts in Christianradio stations.  August 16th FIRST PARISH CONGRGATIONAL CHURCH BAKED BEAN and SPAGHETTI SUPPER—August 16th 422 Hallowell Road, Pownal, Maine On Saturday, August 16th the First Parish Congregational Church 422 Hallowell Road, Pownal, Maine will be hosting a Baked bean and spaghetti supper. There are settings at 5:00 p.m. and at 6:00 p.m.  Tickets are adults $8.00, children 5-12 $4.00, children under 5 eat FREE. To reserve your tickets please call Lois at 688-4433.

August 19 Grace Christian Academy is sponsoring a concert featuring the Blackwood Brothers Quartet from Memphis, Tennessee on August 19 at 7:00. The concert will be held at Grace Community Chapel 187 Lewiston Rd. in West Gardiner, just off  I-295 and the Maine Turnpike. Come hear one of the best quartets in Southern Gospel music as they sing the old classics and new songs destined to become classics. The concert is free but there will be a love offering taken. August 24th  7th Annual Run for the Fallen Maine. Opening ceremony begins at 9:30, run starts at 10am This event is open to all runners, joggers and walkers who would like to help out the families of our fallen heroes. Timed & Non-timed runs so that anyone can participate. This year’s annual event is being held at Brunswick Landing (formerly BNAS) .Great food & entertainment by North of Nashville & Matt Fournier after the 5k event. September 13th 2014  rain date September 20th  FILL THEIR BELLY MOTORCYCLE BENEFIT RIDE.  (come in any vehicle even if you don’t have a motorcycle) This ride benefits the Chrysalis food bank of Gardiner Maine.  Ride leaves at 10 am leaving the Irving gas station at 284 Civic Center Drive in Augusta and will go to Smalls falls in Rangley. $10 donation.
