The original musical “ESTHER: For Such A Time As This” is coming to Groton MA in December.
New Life Fine Arts Musical Theater is presenting “Esther: For Such A Time As This” for eight performances from December 13th to 22nd, 2024 at the Groton-Dunstable Performing Arts Center in Groton, Massachusetts. Tickets are now on sale online at newlifefinearts.org
The premiere of “Esther written and directed by composer David MacAdam, was enthusiastically received with standing ovations at every performance, creating a demand for a longer run. However, those plans had to be postponed due to the COVID pandemic.
The Biblical account of Esther, the Jewish orphan crowned queen of Persia, promises to inspire audiences with a fresh message of hope this holiday season. The events recorded in the Book of Esther serve as a timely reminder that ordinary people can be used in extraordinary ways. We see that what may appear as coinciding random events and circumstances can actually be ‘miracles in which God prefers to remain anonymous’.
Elaine Crane, executive director of Greater Worcester Opera, plays the role of the adult Queen Esther, with Ben Morse as Mordecai, Joel Cioffi as Xerxes, Glenn Gray as Hegai, Michelle Heinze as Arafeen and Joel Zaborowski as Ezra. The production features a cast of 65 from Southern New England, set design by Lisa Wagner, orchestrations by Peter Vantine and the vocal and orchestral direction of John Skinner and Frances Cioffi.
Evening performances will be held on December 13, 14, 20, 21 at 7:30 PM and matinees on December 14, 15, 21, and 22 at 2:30 PM. Ticket prices are $27; $25 for seniors and under 18. $23 each for groups of 10 or more.
